President opens Indonesia’s first National Neurology Center Hospital in Jakarta

On Monday, 14th july 2014. Indonesia’s President Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono Indonesia, officially inaugurated Indonesai’s first National Neurology Center Hospital or Rumah Sakit Pusat Otak Nasional (RS PON) at Jalan M.T Haryono,Jakarta.

As Center of Excellence, the National Neurology Center Hospital aims to provide high quality treatment and services on brain and neurology that is accessible to all layers of society. It is also an Education and Research institute that aims to find solutions for brain and neurologic diseases.

Soft opened since 1 April 2013, the hospital provides services in Advance clinic, Restoration and Rehabilitation, Education and Training, Basic Clinical and Comprehensive Research, Product Development, and Community Policy Development.

Data have shown that an increasing number of Indonesians are suffering from stroke. In 2009 hospitals reported 15% of deaths or one in 7 deaths were caused by stroke.

With the opening of Indonesia’s first Neurology Hospital, President Yudhoyono urges Indonesians to better trust Indonesian hospitals and not seek treatment abroad, since Indonesian hospitals are today able to provide services at par with others oversseas.

In his opening remarks, President Yudhoyono assured the public that the quality of medical facilities and expertise in Indonesia are equal to those in other countries. A number of international personalities have in fact informed him that they prefered to be treated in Indonesia. “On this occasion I express my gratitude to all parties who have been actively involved in improving Indonesia’s medical facilities and services” stated the President as reported by kompas.com.

President Yudhoyono is optimistic that hospitals in Indonesia will reach the same level equal to other hospitals worldwide. He pointed out that the National Neurology Center Hospital just officiated is built and envisaged as a “world class” hospital.

Comrpising 11 flores the Hospital provides several categories of treatment rooms which include: 2 presidential suites, 18 VVIP rooms, 36 VIP, 36 First Class rooms, 22 second class beds, and 275 third class beds.

The National Center for Brain and Neurology Study and Treatments stands on a total area of 11,955 square meters at the MT Haryono,in the Cawang Area.
