Bangkok is known as “A Paradise for Shoppers” where provides foreign tourists with a variety of Shopping experiences since there are not only shopping malls located around the area but also wallet-friendly shopping hubs where are opened during day and night. Let’s work your way through these five entirely different shopping areas to find the right place to experience and enjoy.

Chatuchak Market

Chatuchak Market – it is one of the largest markets in Thailand where brims over a wide range of unique products whether it be clothing and accessories, furniture and home decoration, handicrafts, antiques, books, pets or plants. This is the famous Shopping destination for both Thais and foreigners. Anyone who loves shopping should not miss  Chatuchak Friday night market as wholesalers will get together to sell fashionable clothes with reasonable prices since 7.00 pm on Friday night until 5.00 am at section 16 to 21, Paholyothin Street opposite with Department of Land Transport. 

  • Plants and Flowers section – Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Main Market section – Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm

Hop on the Skytrain (BTS) to Mo chit station, take exit no. 1 or another option is to take subway (MRT) to Chatuchak Park station (exit no. 1), but for the plants and flowers section, get off at Kamphaeng Phet station (exit no. 1 and 2).

Talat Rot Fai Ratchada

Talat Rot Fai Ratchada– the highlighted of this train market is the high view of different colours of umbrella for you to snap a remarkable shot. Once you reach Talat Rot Fai Ratchada, you will see rows of food stalls with over 1,000 stores offering a great variety to serve all the different cravings.

Open hours: Daily 5.00 pm to 1.00 am

Talat Rot Fai Ratchada is just a few minutes walk from Thailand Cultural Center MRT Underground Station (exit no. 3), behind Esplanade Shopping Mall.

MBK Shopping Centre Bangkok

MBK Shopping Centre Bangkok – MBK is counted as Bangkok’s most legendary shopping mall, popular with foreign tourists. There are over 2,000 stores under one roof gathering everything from fashion clothes and accessories, handbags, leather products and luggage, furniture, mobile phones, electric appliances and cameras. Furthermore, Tokyu Department Store from Japan is also adjoined in MBK Centre as well as it is the connecting point for many famous malls around PathumWan such as Siam Centre, Siam Discovery, Siam Square One and Siam Paragon.

Get here via Skytrain (BTS) and drop off at National Stadium station, take exit no. 4.

Big C Supercenter Ratchadamri (Ratchaprasong District)

Big C Supercenter Ratchadamri (Ratchaprasong District)– Big C, Ratchadamri branch is always crowded with both locals and foreign tourists especially Chinese and Vietnamese. It is the flagship store of Big C with the Thai modern decoration as well as probably your best bet for finding Thai souvenirs and gifts to take home.

To get to Big C Supercentre Ratchadamri, you can alight at Chitlom BTS station (exit no. 7) or Siam BTS station (exit no.6) and take the skywalk at Ratchaprsong.

Pratunam Market

Pratunam Market– this is one of the famous major markets in Bangkok selling clothes with wholesale prices. Due to the small alleys and jam-packed small streets, it might be easier to start from Soi Phetchaburi 21 then continue walking around to other sections. Shop stalls at Pratunam market mainly display a wide range of products which are clothes for male, female and kid, fashionable products; bags and shoes. Furthermore, there is also Pratunam Morning Market 5.00 am where vendors come together to set up the stores in front of Baiyoke Towers to sell products at the lower price from the normal price. In the vicinity, there are Platinum Shopping mall and Pantip shopping centre as well.

Pratunam Morning Market: 5.00 am to 9.00 am
