The “welcoming hand” shape created by the ten-petaled ArtScience Museum has become an instant icon of Singapore. The world-class touring exhibitions hosted in its three-story interior (co-curated by partners like the Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History) show what happens when analysis and imagination meet: pure magic.
Past exhibitions in the ArtScience Museum’s 21 galleries have run the gamut from architecture to art to history. For instance, previous shows recreated the Titanic’s final resting place under the sea; revealed a cavalcade of Nobel Prize winners and their world-shaking works and hosting a revolving series of multimedia art pieces that challenge the imagination.
A permanent exhibition, FUTURE WORLD, takes up a 1,500-square-meter interactive art space—a “digital universe” that plays with themes like Nature, Science and Town.
Architect Moshe Safdie (who also designed the Marina Bay Sands nearby) designed the building with impeccable green credentials—including an oculus that collects rainwater and recycles it for use in the Museum’s toilets!
