The biggest fashion moment in Indonesia, the Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) will again throw the spotlight on the capital city Jakarta for its 4th edition to be held at the Jakarta Convention Center from 26th February to 1st March 2015.
Organized by the Association of Indonesia’s Fashion Designers (APPMI), the event involves over 747 Indonesian top fashion brands in various categories, including: women’s wear, men’s wear, accessories, and an entire array more. Aside from exhibition and fashion shows, there will be business to business sessions (B2B) allowing sellers to meet national and international buyers.
The Indonesia Fashion Week 2015 will features 2,522 fashion collections from 230 Indonesian and international designers (including from Japan, Korea, India, and Australia) and 32 fashion shows on two runways. Among Indonesia’s top designers showcasing their masterpieces are: Poppy Dharsono, Anne Avantie,Lenny Agustin, Bintang Mira, Itang Yunasz, Ivan Gunawan, and other popular designers.
There will also be supporting programs such as seminars, talkshows, a workshop, and designs competitions.
This year, IFW2015 is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Scale Businesses whose collaboration is aimed at establishing Indonesia as a global center of fashion in 2025. The initiative is, moreover, based on the blueprint of the Indonesia’s Creative Industry in the Fashion subsector
“The Center of fashion means that Indonesia should grow into a center of trends and design initiatives, a center of production, and center of activities and trade that together will generate significant economic contribution to the country” explained Dini Midiani, Director of IFW, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta,on Tuesday, 17th February 2015.
Considering the vast potentials of Indonesia’s fashion industry, the Indonesia Fashion Week will not only be a grand celebration of fashion, but beyond that it is expected to be an elaborate movement to drive the industry on through the involvement of all its stakeholders that comprise designers, craftsmen, small and medium-scale businesses, textile and garment corporations, associations, and academicians.
In an effort to lead all fashion creators in the country, IFW 2015 brings fresh ideas to the Local Movement and Green Movement that highlight environmental awareness through the campaign slogan “Fashionable People, Sustainable Planet”.
The Green Movement is a rallying call for fashion creators and enthusiasts to apply the concepts of sustainable fashion and eco fashion, while the Local Movement is part of a broader campaign to support and to be proud of Indonesia’s own local products so that it can drive promotions to international markets.
