• once you get in, get the puropass (vip pass)
• it helps so much to skip long queues + reserve spots for character photo ops and even close-up seats for shows 💕

The impressive Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen temple was originally established in 1610 during the Ayutthaya period, though at the time it was far more modest than the grand complex seen today. This royal temple is situated in Bangkok’s Phasi Charoen district, along a network of canals, including Khlong Phasi Charoen.

Although its full name is quite long, locals typically refer to it simply as Wat Paknam. In Thai, “Paknam” means “river mouth” or “waterfront,” reflecting the temple’s close connection to the surrounding waterways.
The temple rose to prominence under the guidance of the revered meditation master Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro, who served as abbot during the first half of the 20th century. While long well known among Thai devotees, it has increasingly attracted international visitors, especially after the construction of the striking Maharatchamongkhon stupa in 2012, admired for its magnificent dome and intricate interior.

More recently, Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen temple has gained widespread recognition thanks to its colossal Buddha statue. Standing 64 meters tall, the statue was constructed between 2017 and 2021 in front of the stupa. Now the tallest Buddha statue in Bangkok, it has become an iconic landmark, widely shared through photos and videos by visitors from around the world.

🇵🇭It’s my first time making Kare Kare🌟 My Pinoy husband often craves for this Filipino comfort food, and I had to give a try👩🏻‍🍳 There is a great recipe by Chef Ronaldo Laudico on visitsoutheastasiaofficial -this was a fun experiment and such a rewarding dish to make!🙌🏻

✅Key points
- Save extra beef stock from simmering the meat. Sauce first came out a bit chunky, but adding extra broth at the end helped to get the right consistency.
- Next time, I would use more Attatto seeds and less oil to get more colors and less grease.
- This dish takes long cook time. Prepare ahead and start early in the day!
